Holy Week for Families

Holy Week offers the opportunity to knit our lives a little more closely with the historical roots of our faith.  We encourage families to dive in and participate - children will enjoy the palm processional on Palm Sunday, and learn something from the Godly Play enrichment story on Maundy Thursday.   Then we'll be ready to celebrate Easter together as a church, and finally, enjoy the egg hunt after the service on Sunday!  Here's the calendar and a few more details:

April 9:  Palm Sunday -- 10:30 AM  -- the whole church (everyone who is able) will process (fancy word for walk) from the court square to the church, carrying and waving (if you want!) a palm branch, reenacting the way people greeted Jesus's entry into Jerusalem at the beginning of his last week.   Older pre-school aged kids up through elementary ages are invited to go straight from the procession to the Godly Play class.  There is nursery care available for the toddlers and babies.  (Or keep your little ones with you if you prefer.)

April 13:  Maundy Thursday --  This beautiful service is a "sleeper".  Folks who have experienced it sometimes say they find it the most meaningful worship service of the year.  If you're not from a tradition that offers this service, give it a try.   At 6:30 we'll have a special Godly Play story for children AND parents ahead of the 7:00 worship service.  We will also offer nursery care beginning just before 7:00.

April 14:  Good Friday -- 7:00PM  A somber service without communion.  We are lining up nursery care.

April 16:  Easter Sunday  -- 10:30 AM -- the whole church gathers to celebrate our risen savior!  Bring flowers from your yard to decorate the cross before you find your seat before the service and bring bells to ring when we hear the "Alleluias" in the hymn called the Pascha Nostrum.  (These are traditions in our church and you can help your children feel part of things by participating!)   Nursery care will be available but no Godly Play class!

An Easter Egg Hunt for the children will follow the service!
