WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Welcome to Grace Church’s online worship! We hope you’ll settle in with the following liturgy and be refreshed and blessed. This Sunday Father Will Holt leads us through the service, with readings by members of our congregation and music from our church musicians, Rhonda Stanton and Zoë Pouliot. Every worship service is a group endeavor, and we invite you to join the endeavor by participating – sing along with the hymns, pray along with the prayers and listen intently to God’s word. Jesus’s work goes forward, whether we meet in a building or whether we are ‘in exile’. Give yourself this time of worship, so you’re ready to “go in peace to love and serve the Lord.” Alleluia, alleluia!
If you get a chance, please read the message from our vestry explaining our next steps toward worshiping in person.

Godly Play: today’s Godly Play video is Part 1 of “The Greatest Parable.” The Greatest Parable is a BIG lesson in three parts and presents scenes from Jesus’ public ministry, and introduces some key Christian language: annunciation, transfiguration, and resurrection. It’s a lesson that we would normally present to the children over the course of three or even four Sundays. But in this different format, we’re including the links to the three parts of the presentation. Feel free to present the rest of the videos (linked below) to your children this week if they are interested.
From the Godly Play handbook: “This is the “Greatest Parable” because Jesus is the source of parables. He is the “Parable Maker” out of whose life comes our sacred stories, liturgy, and contemplative silence, as well as parables. This lesson, therefore, needs to draw to itself and express the whole Christian language system as represented in the Godly Play room.
The goal of this presentation is to allow the inexhaustible meaning and linguistic complexity of Jesus to shine through with a kind of deep simplicity that is open to people of all ages and stages of faith development.”
Part 1 is the video to the right.

Part 3 Greatest Parable
Opening Hymn: All hail the power of Jesus’ Name
1 All hail the power of Jesus’ Name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all!
bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all!
2 Crown him ye martyrs of our God,
who from his altar call:
praise him whose way of pain ye trod,
and crown him Lord of all!
praise him whose way of pain ye trod,
and crown him Lord of all!
3 Hail him, the Heir of David’s line,
whom David Lord did call,
the God incarnate, Man divine,
and crown him Lord of all!
the God incarnate, Man divine,
and crown him Lord of all!
4 Ye heirs of Israel’s chosen race,
ye ransomed of the fall,
hail him who saves you by his grace,
and crown him Lord of all!
hail him who saves you by his grace,
and crown him Lord of all!
5 Sinners, whose love can ne’er forget
the wormwood and the gall,
go, spread your trophies at his feet,
and crown him Lord of all!
go, spread your trophies at his feet,
and crown him Lord of all!
6 Let every kindred, every tribe,
on this terrestrial ball,
to him all majesty ascribe,
and crown him Lord of all!
to him all majesty ascribe,
and crown him Lord of all!
Collect of the Day
First Reading: Acts 1:6-14
Psalm 68:1-10, 32-35
Second Reading: 1 Peter 4:12-14; 5:6-11
Hymn: Hail, thou once despised Jesus
1 Hail, thou once despised Jesus!
Hail, thou Galilean King!
Thou didst suffer to release us;
thou didst free salvation bring.
Hail, thou universal Savior,
bearer of our sin and shame!
By thy merit we find favor:
life is given through thy Name.
2 Paschal Lamb, by God appointed,
all our sins on thee were laid:
by almighty love anointed,
thou hast full atonement made.
All thy people are forgiven
through the virtue of thy blood:
opened is the gate of heaven,
reconciled are we with God.
3 Jesus, hail! enthroned in glory,
there for ever to abide;
all the heavenly hosts adore thee,
seated at thy Father’s side.
There for sinners thou art pleading:
there thou dost our place prepare;
ever for us interceding,
till in glory we appear.
4 Worship, honor, power, and blessing
thou art worthy to receive;
highest praises, without ceasing,
right it is for us to give.
Help, ye bright angelic spirits,
all your noblest anthems raise;
help to sing our Savior’s merits,
help to chant Emmanuel’s praise!
Gospel Reading: John 17:1-11
Sermon
Nicene Creed
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
My Life Flows On
Prayers of the People
Hymn: Crown Him with Many Crowns
1 Crown him with many crowns,
the Lamb upon his throne;
Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns
all music but its own;
awake, my soul, and sing of him
who died for thee,
and hail him as thy matchless King
through all eternity.
2 Crown him the Son of God
before the worlds began,
and ye, who tread where he hath trod,
crown him the Son of man;
who every grief hath known
that wrings the human breast,
and takes and bears them for his own,
that all in him may rest.
3 Crown him the Lord of life,
who triumphed over the grave,
and rose victorious in the strife
for those he came to save;
his glories now we sing,
who died, and rose on high,
who died, eternal life to bring,
and lives that death may die.
4 Crown him of lords the Lord,
who over all doth reign,
who once on earth, the incarnate Word,
for ransomed sinners slain,
now lives in realms of light,
where saints with angels sing
their songs before him day and night,
their God, Redeemer, King.
5 Crown him the Lord of heaven,
enthroned in worlds above;
crown him the King,to whom is given,
the wondrous name of Love.
Crown him with many crowns,
as thrones before him fall,
crown him, ye kings, with many crowns,
for he is King of all.
Blessing
Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. alleluia, alleluia!
