Welcome and Announcements
Welcome to our online worship for Pentecost Sunday. We pray for the Holy Spirit to move within us and in our world, and to truly make us one in the Spirit, as our opening hymn proclaims.
“Today we mark Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit among the apostles and followers of Jesus. Celebrated 50 days after Easter (including the day of Easter itself), the name of the holiday comes from the Greek Pentēkostē, which literally means ‘the 50th day.'”So begins the bulletin insert prepared by the Episcopal Church, and you can read the rest here.
It’s not only Pentecost, it’s also a 5th Sunday, which is normally our song service Sunday. Rhonda has this message.
Dear Grace Church Family,
For the celebration of Pentecost, Zoe and I are blessed to be joined by two members of KPAC Young Artists HarmoniX, Ella Seaton and Townes Boyd. We are excited to bring some extra voices to our hymns and special music on this special fifth Sunday.
Ella Seaton is 15 years old and will be a tenth grade student at Henry County High School this fall. Ella has been involved in KPAC Young Artists and KPAC Players for a number of years as a performer and as a volunteer. Recently, Ella starred alongside our own Zoe Pouliot in Junie B. Jones the Musical. She has also performed in HarmoniX for 2 years and sports a rich contralto voice. At HCHS, she has competed well with the Speech Team and performed in The Addams Family Musical this spring. You may have also heard Ella reading scriptures for us in the last few weeks.
Townes Boyd is a 14 year-old home school student who will be moving into his first year of high school. He plays several instruments and is a growing young composer who is learning to arrange and score music. Townes has been involved in KPAC Young Artists since he was small and has been learning technical skills at KPAC in addition to his on-stage work. This past fall, Townes appeared as Ichabod Crane in Sleepy Hollow. A strong bass in HarmoniX, Townes is growing his vocal range and skill beautifully.
I hope you enjoy the music!
Blessings,
Rhonda Stanton

3 Disciples Get the Holy Spirit
Fancy Lettering : I will Pour Out My Spirit
Godly Play: The Godly Play story this week is called The Mystery of Pentecost. It makes a surprising connection between the story of the tower of Babel where the people stop understanding each other’s language and confusion ensues, and the Pentecost story where, in the power of the Spirit, the disciples’ words are understood regardless of language spoken by the hearers. When we’ve told this story to the children in the past, they are also fascinated by the tiny shields emblazoned with the symbol traditionally associated with each individual apostle. The storyteller in this video has a nice clear voice and takes time to show each shield to the camera. If your children want to get another look at the shields, click here for a picture of them all
Opening Hymn: We are One in the Spirit
We are one in the Spirit
We are one in the Lord
We are one in the Spirit
We are one in the Lord
And we pray that all unity
May one day be restored
REFRAIN:And they’ll know we are Christians
By our love, by our love
Yes, they’ll know we are Christians
By our love
We will walk with each other
We will walk hand in hand
We will walk with each other
We will walk hand in hand
And together we’ll spread the news
That God is in our land
We will work with each other
We will work side by side
We will work with each other
We will work side by side
And we’ll guard each one’s dignity
And save each one’s pride
All praise to the Father
From whom all things come
All praise to Christ Jesus, His only son
And all praise to the Spirit,
Who makes us one

Special Music: Surely He Hath Borne Our Griefs
Nicene Creed
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Closing Hymn: Sweet, Sweet Spirit
Verse 1
There’s a sweet, sweet spirit in this place,
And I know that it’s the Spirit of the Lord;
There are sweet expressions on each face,
And I know they feel the presence of the Lord.
Chorus
Sweet Holy Spirit, Sweet Heavenly Dove,
Stay right here with us filling us with Your love,
And for these blessings we lift our hearts in praise,
Without a doubt we’ll know that we have been revived
When we shall leave this place.
Verse 2
There are blessings you cannot receive
Till you know Him in His fullness and believe.
You’re the one to profit when you say,
“I am goin’ to walk with Jesus all the way.
Verse 3
If you say He saved you from your sin,
Now you’re weak, you’re bound and cannot enter in,
You can make it right if you will yield;
You’ll enjoy the Holy Spirit that we feel.
