We’re so glad you’re here. We offer these online worship resources for those who are unable to attend our in-person worship services.
This week is the fifth Sunday in the season of Lent. Next Sunday is Palm Sunday and the Sunday after that is Easter!
Holy Week Services
During Holy Week Grace Church and most other downtown churches of Paris have cooperative daily services to help us all mark this season and allow it to shape our faith and worship all the more. The program on Monday, March 25th, will be presented by our own Dr. Pam Evans at the outdoor pavilion at Trinity Methodist and is particularly suited to children, which is nice since it will be Spring Break. On Wednesday, Grace hosts the noon service, in cooperation with Quinn Chapel, whose pastor, Dr. John Dandridge, will present the program. Lunch will be provided by Quinn Chapel. More information is below. We encourage you to participate in as much as you can.
Stations of the Cross
On Fridays at noon, members and visitors are invited to come and walk the Stations of the Cross, led by Pat Woods. In this traditional and meaningful Lenten devotion, we retrace Jesus’s last days on earth, the better to understand and prepare for his triumphant resurrection.
Loaves and Fishes
Our monthly meal ministry provides a free meal to anyone on the 4th Thursday of each month, from 5:30 to 7:00. This month the 4th Thursday falls on Maundy Thursday and we will offer dinner that evening ahead of the worship service at 7:00. If you come early to worship, feel free to jump in and help clean up as the Loaves and Fishes team wraps up their meal service.
The Fifth Sunday in Lent
Children’s Lesson – Godly Play Story of the Week
We believe children are important members of our church. Children are welcome in the worship service and they are welcome, as well, to join our Godly Play class when it is offered in our in-person worship.
Opening Hymn: #495 Hail Thou Once Despised Jesus
The Collect
Almighty God, you alone can bring into order the unruly wills and affections of sinners: Grant your people grace to love what you command and desire what you promise; that, among the swift and varied changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

John 12:20-33
Now among those who went up to worship at the festival were some Greeks. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also. Whoever serves me, the Father will honor.
“Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say—‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it is for this reason that I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” The crowd standing there heard it and said that it was thunder. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not for mine. Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” He said this to indicate the kind of death he was to die.
